Objectiva Software Solutions Develops Palm Beijing City Guide for redBANG

Carlsbad, CA - October 15, 2001 - Objectiva Software Solutions, a software development services company, today announced it has converted redBANG's paper city guide for Beijing, China into a software version to be used on handheld computers running the Palm OS.

Tao Ye, Chief Operating Officer of Objectiva, remarked, "Helping redBANG succeed and get to the top because of our technical expertise in Palm OS is extremely rewarding. Not only was redBANG awarded a Gears Choice by PalmGear.com for their Beijing Guide, but they also reached the number one selling position of all Palm software for Asia on Handango.com. In addition, redBANG has been entered into Palm.com's competition for best software awards."

"We couldn't be more pleased with how the guide turned out. Objectiva not only developed a high-quality application that met all of our requirements, but they also accelerated our time-to-market with the guide, commented Rurik Nystrom, Chief Executive Officer of redBANG. "One of the biggest challenges was to have a flexible application that could be used for multiple cities, countries and even customized for different clients. Objectiva's modular design of the system delivered a flexible application that can be used to produce new versions easily and quickly."

The redBANG Beijing Guide is intended to improve travels to Beijing for those unfamiliar with the vast city. Visitors who do not speak Chinese often have great difficulty in getting around, as few taxi drivers speak English. A combination of redBANG's ingenuity and Objectiva's technical strength were required to meet this challenge. The application displays taxi cards for the location you want to get to in Chinese and English. The technical obstacle involved in displaying Chinese characters on Palm devices that were not equipped with a Chinese language OS was overcome by a proprietary technology developed by Objectiva.

While there are multiple Palm city guides available at similar or no cost, this one is much more extensive in content. At your fingertips, you will have information on the top buildings, sights, hotels, youth hostels, restaurants, clubs, shopping malls, markets, hospitals, museums and tour agencies. You will also have information on all the embassies in Beijing as well as all the airlines that fly there. In total, there are more than 1,000 locations with corresponding Chinese character taxi cards and more than 800 phone numbers in the guide.

Said one reviewer on Handago.com, "After having spent three years in Beijing, I know how intimidating the city can be for visitors. The redBANG City Guide is going to help a lot of people get beyond the language and cultural barriers, whether they want to just enjoy the sights or if they need to take care of business with no hassles."
